BUSINESS DESCRIPTION

Greenpeace is a non-profit organization founded in 1971 Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. This organization focuses on environmentalism and peace using direct action, lobbying, research, and innovation.

PROBLEM
This is the most important part of the brief. It should be clearly defined and understood. What are they doing or not doing to promote their business? Why? Is the problem internal, administrative, location, financial, external, personal. etc…?

OBJECTIVE

Greenpeace goal is “ensure the ability of the earth to nurture life in all its diversity”.

Today Greenpeace focuses on worldwide issues such as global warming, deforestation, overfishing, commercial whaling and nuclear power. They do lots of campaigns.

AUDIENCE
Greenpeace is a global non-profit organization. Their audiences are pretty much everyone on the earth who is not only aware of environment issues but also who are aware of environment issues.

Four target groups:

• Powerbrokers: People in positions of authority in industry and government who have the power and responsibility to make large-scale change happen.
• Supporters: People who work with us to achieve positive change. Our supporters help us win our campaigns and they inspire others.
• Allies: People and organisations who share our aims and objectives. We cannot achieve our goals in isolation. Greenpeace builds alliances to help stop environmental destruction.
• Power Constituencies: People who can bring about pressure for change by changing behaviour en masse – such as consumers of a specific brand, voters or shareholders.

MESSAGE

I’m going to emphasize how important to keep our environment green and going to say what issues are currently going on and inform things we can do to prevent hurting our environment.

MEANS

Since there is going to be a lot of information’s to know and let audience know I think it will good to put illustration or photo to help understand and not too boring. Also, let people know what kind of work or campaigns they did and they are doing.

This School of Visual Arts is one of the good academic sites. The purpose of this site is for education and I think also for exhibition too.  When I opened the homepage the first impression I got was “pretty!” The first page has interesting flashes but it loaded fairly quickly. Graphically speaking I think this academic site is sophisticated compare to other academic site. It is fun to look at and they used various color but colors sort of goes together well. Even though they used many colors they don’t look busy or don’t get a feeling of too much color. I think yellow and red is major color skim. I like the background they used and the background changes each time you click different taps. They also have interesting gird going on. The font size seems little small and has lots of information. Copyrights are written on the bottom of the page and the contact information is under too.

This website is one of the korean broad casting web sties. KBS is abbreviation for Korean Broadcasting System and it is the most famous website of all. This web site provides about all the media contents such as recent news, radio schedule, TV programs,etc. If you are a internet user and how to use computer, the audiences are pretty much everyone. The first thing you will notice is they have pop up windows. KBS home page is pretty much simple but lots of text. Even though they have lots of text it’s not cluttered. They also has flashes to show and advertise their programs. Majority color they used are blue and white. This web site allows you to view past TV programs also they have forums so you can write a comments about any. However you need to log in to write a comment. Also it connects to individual TV program websites so you can get all the informations like behind stories, casting, etc. Nice thing about this website they provide services for different languages such as english, chinese and japanese.
I notice that using firefox some of the encoding was unavailable. Web site load quickly and they have copy right notice on the bottom as well as contact information, site map and channel info.

Cafe Int’L has been a local attraction in Goleta since 1995. Cafe Int’l formerly began as a Mimi’s International Cafe was purchased by Steve Rhim in 2004 to create the affordable and comfortable place it is today.

PROBLEM
Too much Flash!
To appreciate the madness, you have to choose one of the moving items — Breakfast, Lunch, Catering, or Specials. Then it gets interesting or frustrating. It moves too fast so It’s actually hard to click.
The problem is flash dominates too much that it doesn’t look like a restaurant website and there is no sense of restaurant feel. Also, flash makes difficult to view information what customer wants. Also, there is no proper contact information or location for the restaurant. Moreover I think there is no proper homepage.
Also, there is only breakfast and lunch menu available.

OBJECTIVE
As a result of flash, it looks cool. But I don’t think overusing of flash will makes hard to find information. I think it will be much better as long as you keep the sense of coolness and add more of restaurant feel to it.

COMPETITION
Mimis Café: clean. Easy to navigate.
IHOP: has video(advertisement) they have their own strategy ‘come hungry leave happy’. Consistant color and clean.
Analyze and describe the strategy and positioning of each major competitor.

AUDIENCE

Target market is wide. It could younger to old. It’s not upscale restaurant but more like friendly family restaurant. They provide breakfast and lunch and dinner. Culture doesn’t matter

match.com is a commercial type of website which provides online dating service.  This website is for single people who are looking for someone. Their target audiences cover wide range of age, such as 20s to over 40s. When I get into first page, the first thing you will see is a big picture of a woman smiling and you need to put your information in order to enter the actual site. There were not much visual or design elements going on and no animation. The most color they used was blue and white. They have their name, match.com and blue bar is repeating through out the page but it doesn’t help or does anything to do with the purpose of this website. The font sizes are not about 12pt and it seems small, and each page has to contain lots of information. The text styles are not vary but texts are italicize. They separated your custom choices by categories and you can customize your wishing result. The results come out with photo and little descriptions of themselves. They also provide chatting services. The site was load quickly. There is a copyright notice also there is partner sites under. There is contact us category but there is no direct information and no email addresses. Instead of direct information they said go to customer care but I could not find customer care section.

www.vancouver2010.com is a 2010 Winter Olympic official website. This website contains all the information for winter Olympic. Such as schedule and results, athletes, photos, videos, tickets, etc. The targets for this website is pretty much everyone who are interested in 2010 winter Olympic.

The first visual elements caught my eye was the illustration they used on the right side. The main colors they used are blue and green. They put sponsor commercials on the website. The design elements communicate with the contents also related and consistent. The font size they used about 12pt. and text styles are the same. The website is clean but it seems little too much text on the first page. Also the search engine seems too small. The layout helps viewers to understand and easy to navigate. They categorized different kind of sports.

The tabs and logos are repeated on every pages and help overall purpose of the website. All the links are works fine. Also I was able to get all the information from the website. There is copyright notice on the bottom of the pages. It loads quickly and there is animation of photos on the first page.
